Lionel Brossi

Lionel Brossi es Director del Núcleo Inteligencia Artificial y Sociedad y profesor de la Facultad de Comunicación e Imagen de la Universidad de Chile. Sus líneas de investigación abordan la intersección entre tecnologías y juventudes, y trabaja en los ámbitos de educación, inteligencia artificial para la inclusión social, habilidades digitales, calidad de la información, entre otros. Es Faculty Associate del Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society de la Universidad de Harvard, donde colabora con el proyecto Youth and Media y co-dirige la red http://www.conectadosalsur.org. Es miembro del Consejo externo de Seguridad de TikTok para América Latina, de la Misión de Expertos en IA para Colombia y ha participado como consultor en diversos comités de organismos internacionales como UNESCO, UNICEF, ITU, AI4D, entre otros.

Lionel Brossi is Director of the Artificial Intelligence and Society Hub and professor at the Faculty of Communication and Image of the University of Chile [ICEI] and director of the Artificial intelligence and Society Hub [IA+SIC]. He is a Faculty Associate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society and a member of the chilean research hub for improving the Mental Health of Adolescents and Youth, IMHAY.

Since 2016, Lionel has been part of the leading team of Conectados al Sur, a multisectoral network (academia, NGOs, private sector, government, political actors and civil society) focused on the opportunities and challenges that arise to children and young people, in their relationship with the Internet and emerging technologies in Latin America and the world. 

As member of the Youth and Media team, he supports ongoing efforts of research and application on the field of Artificial Intelligence and Inclusion, and the study of youth digital skills, digital social innovation and Internet content gaps in Latin America. Lionel is also a member of the external Tiktok’s Safety Advisory Council for Latin America and a member of the Colombia’s presidency Mission of AI Experts.

He actively participates in working committees, expert groups and consultancies for international organizations (UNICEF, UNESCO, 5Rights Foundation, ITU, among others) and leads cross cutting regional and international research projects on the intersection of youth, technologies, education, wellbeing and human rights.

Lionel Has been part of the Artificial Intelligence Experts Mission for Colombia.

He holds a Phd in Theory of Literature and Comparative Literature, a Master in Communication, a Master in Comparative: Cultural and Literary studies and a degree in Journalism and Social Communication.
